Settlement reached in 2010 accident on Hwy 522

Residents of the Seattle area may remember the serious accident that occurred in February 2010 on Highway 522. The collision, in which a dump truck that was transporting more than it was supposed to hit a car that was stalled on the side of the road, caused the family occupying the vehicle to suffer serious injuries. Among other injuries, the two children involved suffered numerous broken bones and skull fractures.

Immediately preceding the accident the woman driving the vehicle pulled her malfunctioning vehicle to the side of the road. Because there was not a shoulder on that portion of the road the car was next to a highway barrier. After turning on the vehicle's emergency lights, she called a tow truck for assistance. It was while they were waiting for the tow truck that the collision occurred. The dump truck struck the back of the car and pushed it along the barrier over 200 feet.

Washington skateboarder injured after collision with dump truck

All too often we have written posts about pedestrians or bicyclists being injured when they collide with a motor vehicle. This post is focused on an accident involving a skateboarder and a dump truck.

The accident occurred a little after noon one day last week. According to police, the skateboarder was injured as he rode his skateboard down a driveway, located on Tester Road in Monroe, Washington. He reportedly ended up in the road after he lost control and hit the front of the moving dump truck. The driveway was located just in front of Monroe High School.
