In the Pacific Northwest it is not uncommon to see logging trucks transporting freshly cut timber to a mill for processing. These trucks, like most trucks, are large which makes them easy for most to see. Despite this fact, there are still times that they are run into by other vehicles.

One such truck accident occurred early one morning last week at the intersection of Highway 525 and Scott Road. According to a Washington State Trooper, the logging truck had recently pulled onto the highway when the car, a Ford Taurus, hit it from behind. The collision caused the horn on the Ford to jam. This likely woke many of the residents in the area as the accident occurred shortly before 6:00 a.m.

The man behind the wheel of the Ford was hurt in the incident that totaled his car. His injuries were reportedly sustained to his pelvis. Following the accident he was transported to South Whidbey High School. It was from there that a medical helicopter picked him up and airlifted him to Harborview Medical Center located in Seattle.

No information has been provided on the status of the driver of the logging truck.

It is fortunate that the injuries the man driving the Ford sustained were not more serious. In situations such as this it is not uncommon for someone to sustain such serious injuries that they result in the person's death.

It is not clear what caused the Ford to rear-end the truck. The accident is being investigated by the Washington State Patrol.
